The US has a pivotal role to play in the global maritime energy transition by supporting research, development, demonstration and deployment across the federal government. Critically, the path to achieving the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) fuel standards and 2050 target remains uncertain. By creating incentives and funding for fuel switching and infrastructure investment, while developing standards in line with international ones over the coming years, we have an opportunity to shape the industry here in the US to be a global leader.
