Leisure boating is only responsible for a minuscule percentage of global CO2 emissions. Even so, the boating industry, led by NMMA, is determined to reduce its impact to as low as reasonably practicable. There is no silver bullet to achieve this, but with 12 million recreational boats on the water in the USA and owners having already made their investments in current technologies, what can be done? This presentation will outline the substantial benefits of switching to new sustainable (drop-in) marine fuels that can be used straight out of the pump and require absolutely no changes or modifications to the fuel system – and reduce emissions by up to 90%, improve engine performance and remove ethanol-related issues. But how do we make these fuels readily available?
