New electric drive for recreational and working boats by Bosch

Bosch’s components for powertrain electrification are available as standard for the marine market and are suitable for a wide range of recreational and working boats. Across the globe, ever-increasing environmental regulations and emission standards are reinforcing the trend toward electric shipping – and not just among shipping companies and boat manufacturers. The growing customer demand for an eco-friendlier solution is also driving the industry. With its electrification solutions for recreational motorboats and sailing yachts, Bosch is aiming to make a significant contribution to this paradigm shift in the maritime sector. Its electric motors, inverters, transmissions and control units are based on the company’s tried-and-tested automotive technology.

The new separate motor-generator 230 delivers up to 80kW more power than a comparable 400V machine with identical weight or, with the same level of performance, boasts more compact dimensions and a much lower weight. The development is based on Bosch volume-production applications in the commercial vehicle sector and therefore ensures utmost reliability in mobile machinery and marine applications. In combination with the matching inverter INV 4 OHW, the electric motor meets all the requirements of the Low Voltage and Recreational Craft directives. Visit the Bosch booth to find out more about its complete solutions for electric boat drives.
